The re-opened Scottish National Portrait Gallery now features a photography gallery, which will display the gallery's holdings of Scottish and international photography.
A new acquisition by South African photographer Zwelethu Mthethwa Untitled (2010) was purchased with the support of Art Fund, and is currently on display in the gallery.
Mthethwa's work is part of the display Romantic Camera, which explores the highly charged relationship between romanticism and photography in Scotland. Showcasing over 40 different photographers, the exhibition includes works by Adamson and Hill, Julia Margaret Cameron, James Craig Annan, Bill Brandt, Oscar Marzaroli, Michael Reisch and Zwelethu Mthethwa.
