Exhibition of rare, vintage photographs by Tony Ray-Jones to coincide with the opening exhibition of the Science Museum Media Space, Only in England, Photographs by Tony Ray-Jones and Martin Parr, in September 2013.
In the latter half of the 1960s, Tony Ray-Jones documented English culture and identity through photography and created a body of work which brilliantly captures this period in British public life. Playful and sometimes despondent, Ray-Jones' images were unlike anything which came before and were the catalyst for a generation of New British Photographs that came after him, among them Anna Fox, Ken Grant, Chris Killip, Martin Parr, Mark Power and Paul Reas.
