Lainey

The Family Ogden: Lainey's Poem, Jacob's Diagnosis, A Mother's Concerns.

The Family Ogden is part of an ongoing long term collaborative project documenting the life and experiences of Jacob an 8 year old diagnosed with Autism. The aim of which is to raise awareness of the diversity of the condition and challenge the representation of autistic individuals, especially those with more complex care needs.

This project represents three months of this collaboration developing a photographic interpretation of Jacob's formal diagnosis, Beths concerns as a mother and a poem that Lainey had written about her brother and his needs.

Originally presented as a series of 31 images contained within a family photograph album, laid out on a background of medical paperwork and containing physical extracts from those documents as contrasting and contextual reference. As part of the original project Beth, Jack, Lainey and Shiloh are also participating through being involved in the creation of images, quotes, image selection and curation.

Going forward this ongoing relationship will investigate Jacob and Lainey's experiences as they navigate their condition into adulthood.
