Dark Peak Photo is organising a new photography festival, staged across the market town of Glossop, on the edge of the Peak District.
For the first edition of Dark Peak Photo Festival, artists will respond to the theme of NOW & THEN – reflecting on the changes that time brings, the nature of memory and the lessons to be learned from history.
We have invited leading artists to exhibit new projects in free exhibitions alongside work from local practitioners more familiar with the landscape. Together, they have embarked on a social, political, and aesthetic investigation of the Dark Peak - the higher and wilder part of the Peak District.
Alongside this we have a programme of work that embraces the theme over a wider geography.
This activity is supported by an engagement programme of talks and workshops, working with people of all ages and levels of experience to develop new conversations and skills in photography. Allowing the Dark Peak Photo Festival to be shaped by those who take part in it.
The festival will run from 22nd to 25th February 2024, across multiple venues in Glossop. With the kindness and support of many local organisations and businesses, we will be able to bring an exciting, inspiring, and aspirational visual arts festival to the foot of the Dark Peak.
Standard opening times are 10am till 5pm and The Old Brewery Space is open 12 till 6pm.
Discover their full programme of exhibitions, workshops and talks here on their website.
