Opportunity to have an informal conversation with artist Andrew Lacon about his creative response to the project and his conceptual and contextualizing approach to making the finished work. Andrew will discuss his engagement with the archive, sculptural installations, his interest in the physicality of the photograph and his reasons for making and selecting the works chosen for exhibition and associated publication.

Lacon’s work will be exhibited as part of REFERENCE WORKS at The Gallery within the new Library of Birmingham from the 3rd September – 29th December 2013. REFERENCE WORKS is Birmingham’s largest photography commission, developed in response to the creation of the new Library of Birmingham. The event is the first in a series of Photographers Talks linked to REFERENCE WORKS.
