Graduate show - Emma Louise Monks

Part of Create Salford Festival 2014
12 June 2014 to 14 June 2014
Free

Emma's show is based on how western art has objectified woman and this has become something that has continued throughout photography (Berger, 1972).

According to Berger, the way women have been portrayed in Western art has been largely influenced by the biblical story of Adam and Eve. Eve is condemned by God to the punishment of childbirth and to become the property of man, according to the Old Testament. Emma has based her graduate show on this and how these religious readings have had a negative impact on how women are seen in modern society.

Emma's show is part of Create Salford Festival 2014, which includes original theatre productions, visual arts and photography exhibitions, fashion shows and film screenings. There will also be workshops which will allow people to interact in live performances.
