Mark Willcox is immersed in themes of altered perception, identity, angst and neuroses.
He has a mild but rare sight impairment, which allows him to live within the bounds of normality but which causes him to see the world in a startling way. His unusual vision provides the inspiration for the creation of large-scale abstract photographic artworks that express the visual chaos and disorientation he often feels in the fast pace of contemporary life.
In Towards a New Alchemy, he shows works from the Rush Hour and Kings X Fire series and new works from In Search of the Higgs, which celebrates the discovery in 2012 of the Higgs Boson Particle. Towards a New Alchemy shows a progression from the semi-figurative towards abstraction and hints at future, more conceptually-oriented work.
There is an artists' talk at 18:00 on 20 November.
