Shutter Hub's exhibition, entitled 'The Transition of Time', is being held in the Bridewell Theatre Bar Gallery in the historical surroundings of St Bride Foundation in London's Fleet Street.
We asked for entrants to take their inspiration from the impact of the Industrial Revolution, and put forward images that demonstrate progression, inventions, traditions, industry and change. The submissions we received certainly didn't disappoint in terms of the brief, and the high quality of all the applications.
Amongst those selected to take part are:
Shane Gunning
Nic Pass
John Kiely
Sophie Walker
Dan Donovan
Sam Mellish
Karen Harvey
The entries are varied whilst still in keeping with the brief, and represent a range of styles. Some of the exhibitors have shown their work with us before, and some are new. All have taken their own unique approach to the subject of Time.
St Bride Foundation is steeped in history and currently over 80,000 people visit every year. In 1891 it was established as a centre for social, cultural and recreational activities for the fast-developing print and publishing trade of Fleet Street. The building houses the St Bride Library - the largest library for printing, publishing and the graphic arts in the English-speaking world, as well as many magnificent rooms, a printing workshop, The Bridewell Theatre (with the disused Victorian swimming bath hidden beneath) and the Theatre Bar and Gallery.
Shutter Hub is a community and online resource for photographers, providing opportunities for photographers to promote their work, receive support, develop themselves professionally, and exhibit their work both online and in real world exhibitions.
