Post-industrial landscapes have held a lifelong fascination for Sheffield-based artist Matthew Conduit. LAND presents a selection of images made over the last ten years which have never been on public display before.
To commemorate the Sheffield great Flood of 1864, The Photographer, Martyn Pearson has created two exhibitions of contemporary photography. The ‘Landscape’ exhibition follows the path of the flood from Dale Dyke Dam to the Wicker Arches in the Centre of Sheffield.
To commemorate the Sheffield great Flood of 1864, The Photographer, Martyn Pearson has created two exhibitions of contemporary photography. The ‘Still-Life’ exhibition depicts artefacts relating to the flood. These exhibitions are part of the 160th year anniversary flood events across the city of Sheffield.
In the late 1980s and 90s Sheffield reached a pivotal moment in its history, one which saw it begin a journey of regeneration and transformation into the city we know today. The first steps on that journey were documented by a group of gifted photographers whose work reflected both the hope and hard realities of the time. Today, as major developments in the city see its landscape continuing to evolve, a new exhibition at Weston Park Museum re-presents those original photographs to chronicle a significant turning point for Sheffield and its people.
The third in a new series of events to connect and support the photographic community in and around Sheffield. The sessions are presented by Redeye members Karina Lax and Jeremy Abrahams. This event features the work of Arpita Shah and the late Martin Jenkinson, and also includes time for discussion and networking.
To coincide with this year’s Northern Light conference, Sheffield Hallam University are holding an exhibition of contemporary landscape photography, at the Yorkshire Artspace, exploring critical issues arising from the photographic representation of the northern landscape. The exhibition features a wide range of work relating to the theme of Proximity and Distance, from artists who are principally concerned with landscape photography.
Hothouse Sheffield
Hothouse arrives in the Steel City in June for a daylong celebration of photographic talent from Yorkshire and beyond.

This event is part of the Sheffield Institute of Arts Degree Show, which runs from Saturday 13 to Friday 26 June. Opening times are 10am–5pm Monday to Saturday and 10am–7pm on Wednesdays.
