The speaker for the next Liverpool Network Meeting is photographer & lecturer Andrew Jackson. After gaining a First Class Honours degree at Wolverhampton University, where he studied under the social documentary photographer Nick Hedges; he completed a Master of Arts (distinction) in Documentary photography at Newport (University of Wales).
Andrew’s practice spans both commissioned and self-initiated projects.
Intrinsic to his work is a desire to observe contemporary human existence and the inherent paradoxes found within the collisions, transactions and dislocations that reveal themselves within the built environment. These observations utilise the ‘realism’ of documentary photography and have, more recently introduced a staged element in the construction of pluralistic narratives. Video and sound recording is also becoming another facet to Jackson’s practice.
This talk will feature images from Andrew's powerful 'All That It Was… All That It Is' project, which documented life in Cape Town. For more details on his work see Written By Light
The meeting starts at 7.30pm. It's free to come along and all are welcome. Network meetings offer the chance to meet the Redeye team and other photographers in your local area.
