A talk from award-winning blogger and photographer Len Grant on how he has successfully used the medium of blogging to expand his photography practice.

Len won a Blog North Award this year for As Rare as Rubies a blog that uses photography and words in tandem to tell the stories of ordinary people in challenging circumstances. Being both a photographer and writer, Len has a unique blogging style that successfully combines these two artistic practices to tell stories in a compelling and personal way. He takes on difficult subjects and tackles them with sensitivity and honesty providing candid commentaries on contemporary issues.

With over 20 years of photographic experience, Len has worked on numerous commissions in the North West and beyond, working with both local charities and multinational companies. He started blogging in 2004 and has now completed five different blogs with a host of awards between them.

Len joins us on the 9th December to discuss the art of blogging and how the medium can be used effectively by photographers. He’ll talk about the position of blogging in our content driven world and how a photographer might use words to take their practice to a new level.

Steph Brocken will join us for discussion at the end of the session. Steph works for  Blaze, an organisation that brings people together as cultural commentators on online platforms, and encourages artists to write and blog as part of their practice.
