Open call for exhibit submissions
The primary aim of White Cloth Photography and Film is to provide a unique space for established artists to exhibit and elevate projects of particular importance while at the same time providing a platform for emerging artists to showcase their work, with a view to contributing towards developing and retaining artistic talent in Leeds.
The gallery and its events space also has a pioneering vision to support the artistic community, encourage creativity and work alongside other local arts organisations to aid the city’s burgeoning development as a cultural centre and to become a go-to destination for art lovers everywhere.
About the Opportunity
White Cloth Gallery would like to put out an open call for submissions; calling any keen, ambitious and talented photographers to put their best foot forward and submit their proposals for review by their board of trustees. They would like to widen our scope and invite submissions from Leeds and further afield, whether you are an experienced photographer with a number of professional exhibitions under your belt, or an enthusiastic newcomer looking for a great opportunity to take your work further – they want to hear from you.
They strongly encourage all photographers to hold a launch event (with no venue hire fee) which the gallery would assist with organising, partnering this with a digital marketing campaign to get the word out what’s on. They are happy to discuss ideas and work towards creating a unique experience that reflects your individual concept.
Please consider when submitting
They require all prints to be framed and hung from their hanging rail system, using nails to hang your work is prohibited so please ensure that your frames are fully equipped with hooks and or wires. The framing must be completed to a high and suitable standard, (they are able advice on framers to use if you are unsure). If you chose not to us a framer, you are able to frame the prints yourself, however they do not provide frames.
Whilst they support all photographers, their aims and objectives, we are unable to display work containing overt nudity, drug use or any images of a sensitive nature – this is due to the high volume and diverse array of events held in the space.
Timings
They would like to invite submissions for exhibitions starting as early as this summer, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch with your proposals.
