Who is it for?
Redeye's critique surgeries are aimed at photographers or artists looking for advice and feedback on their work or practice.
Thomas Dukes
Thomas Dukes has been living and working in Liverpool for five years, after completing a Masters in Arts, Aesthetics and Cultural Institutions at Liverpool University. Having undertaken a work placement with Open Eye Gallery at Wood Street, Thomas continued to assist curator Karen Newman in the inaugural Mann Island exhibitions of Mitch Epstein and Richard Mosse until joining the gallery as Exhibitions Coordinator for the Mishka Henner show, Precious Commodities. Having taken three years away from Open Eye Gallery working in venue and arts collective management Thomas returned late 2014 to look after artist liaison, exhibition logistics and programming public events before becoming Curator with new Open Eye Gallery director, Sarah Fisher.
Helen McGhie
Helen McGhie is an artist based in Greater Manchester; her practice investigates interiority and the photographic gaze through the still and moving image. McGhie recently set up Nightlight Darkroom, a new community space for analogue photography at ArtWork Atelier (Salford), which offers enlarger rental for photographers and darkroom workshops for beginners.
Paul Herrmann
Paul Herrmann is the Director of Redeye, current chair of The British Photographic Council, set up LOOK festival in Liverpool and the Northern Photography Consortium, and is currently establishing the Photographic Collections Network, which is a knowledge exchange and advocacy network for anyone working with collections or archives. Paul is happy to talk about any aspect of work but specialises particularly in business models and career paths in photography.

This event starts at 18:00 on Monday 6th March 2017 until 20:00. Please choose your preferred thirty-minute slot at the time of booking. Please ensure you arrive at least 10 minutes before your designated slot.

Please book your ticket using the links below. The Critique Surgeries are currently free for Redeye members. To find out more about becoming a member go to our membership page. Price for non-members is £20 (the equivalent to five months membership if you decide to join instead).
Space is limited so please book onto a specific time slot. If you are unable to attend your appointment please let Charlie Booth know as soon as possible. The Critique Surgeries are a regular feature of our events programme, with surgeries every few months and in different locations across the country. Who is it for?
The Critique Surgeries are designed to be informal sessions for photographers who are looking for feedback and advice. Maybe you are struggling for inspiration, have hit a dead end with your latest project or you simply want advice on where, or who, to show your work to. You might want advice on improving your work, or to discuss career moves. These sessions are designed as a friendly alternative to portfolio reviews and can be used to prepare your portfolio for an upcoming review or competition.
