Juno Calypso is an award-winning photographic artist. After winning the British Journal of Photography’s International Photography Award in 2016 she has achieved great critical and commercial success, working with galleries such as TJ Boulting and Foam Amsterdam, and clients including Burberry.

Her work presents a performance of femininity through the portrayal of Joyce, a character first developed whilst studying at London College of Communication who has since ventured from honeymoon suites in Pennsylvania to a nuclear bunker. Calypso looks critically at the construction of femininity using the imagery of horror and humour in equal measure.

Her most recent project, ‘What to do with a Million Years’, was exhibited as her second solo show at TJ Boulting and published by Trolley Books. The work uses the backdrop of a nuclear bunker in Nevada to look at our obsession with preserving life, youth and beauty.

Juno’s work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Saatchi Gallery; Les Rencontres d’Arles; Unseen Photo Festival and Flowers Gallery. Her work was purchased by The Manchester Contemporary Art Fund in 2018 and is currently on display at Manchester Art Gallery as part of their public collection.
