**Extended Deadline until Monday 2nd October 11pm!**
On Saturday 4th of November, Redeye's Hothouse arrives in Hull for a free, daylong celebration of photography. 16 chosen speakers will have the opportunity to share their photographic practice in quick-fire presentations over the course of a full day. This year we are in partnership with Humber Eco Fest and Hull Independent Photography Festival.
What is Hothouse?
Hothouse is an event with short presentations from photographers about their recent work and projects. If you have a project or body of work you would like to talk about, whether it’s complete or a work in progress, we would love to hear from you. For details on how to apply please see further information below.
In addition to the presentations, there will also be the opportunity to bring and look through photographic portfolios, and photography books.
For more details on the event itself and to buy tickets please visit here.
Applications for presentations
We are seeking photographers who can give short, ten-minute presentations about their work.
This year the theme is Sustainability. From works which visually document the changing landscape of our environment, the people affected by global warming to a practice which embraces environmentally sustainable techniques, materials, and ethical principles – we are accepting all types of applications exploring the theme.
As the theme is sustainability, we will be screening a small number of virtual presentations for those who are unable to travel to the event. If you would like to apply for a virtual spot, please make this clear in your application.
If you are interested in presenting your work, then please send through an application as a PDF including the following:
- Your name
- up to 12 jpeg images from the work you want to present on the day (no bigger than 5MB in total)
- a few sentences about yourself and your work (no more than 200 words)
- links to your social media and/or website link
Send this to submissions@redeye.org.uk by 11pm on 3rd of October 2023.
Please use the email title HULL Hothouse application and if you would like an email confirmation then please send an email to rebecca@redeye.org.uk who will confirm this for you.
We aim to include as many presentations as we can, and will let you know if you have been successful by the 10th October 2023.
