Our keynote presenters include Martin Evening, one of Europe’s leading authorities on Photoshop and digital imaging, Jack Lowe, one of the UK’s leading digital printing experts, and Glyn Dewis, well-known photographer and retoucher. We will also feature Dan Dubowitz, looking at the analogue to digital workflow.

Martin Evening
Martin Evening works as a professional beauty and portrait photographer, based in London and mainly specialises in shooting for hair clients. He is also known as an expert in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom and has written many books on these subjects. In 2008 Martin was inducted into the NAPP Photoshop Hall of Fame along with John Nack at Photoshop World, Las Vegas. Martin also enjoys shooting landscapes for personal pleasure.
Martin will speak on two subjects:
Photoshop Clean-up techniques - some of the different methods you can use to remove blemishes and larger items from photographs, including how to remove tourists from a scene by blending multiple exposures, how to retouch with the healing brush along a curved edge, beauty retouching and some of the various content-aware retouching methods.
Photoshop Transforms and Warps - ways of transforming and warping your images using tools like Adaptive Wide Angle Filter, Content Aware Scale and Fill, the upright adjustments in Camera Raw, plus many more.
Glyn Dewis
Glyn Dewis is a photographer, retoucher, trainer currently based just outside of Oxford in the UK. Working both nationally and internationally his main area of work sees him shooting promotional and commercial material for industry professionals, physique athletes, musicians, bands and up and coming actors and is a regular contributor to Photoshop and Photography Magazines. Known for his retouching and compositing using Adobe Photoshop In 2012 Glyn became a member of the Photoshop World Dream Team of Instructors teaching at Photoshop World in the USA; the first ever from the UK and as an Adobe Influencer teaches workshops and 1-1 coaching from the basics through to advanced retouching techniques.
In this 90 minute session Glyn will give cover the non destructive workflow starting in Lightroom and then into Photoshop; plus tips, tricks and techniques for retouching and compositing including lighting effects, special effects, dodging and burning, the many uses of 50% grey, how to give your pictures mood and atmosphere and much more.
Jack Lowe - The Thought Process Behind Crafting a Digital Print
Jack Lowe Studio, based in Newcastle upon Tyne supplies digital services of the highest order to the photographic industry. Inspiring names such as Julian Germain, Paul Kenny, Tom Stoddart, Julian Calverley and Jonathan Knowles feature on Jack's client list, as well as many other photographers, artists and advertising agencies from all over the world.
In this talk Jack shares an overview of his approach to digital printmaking. As well as touching on the practical side, perhaps more importantly, Jack will offer his thought processes behind the daunting world of the digital print — sharing philosophies refined over many years and over many miles of paper...
Dan Dubowitz - Citizen Manchester - Analogue to Digital
Photographic artist Dan Dubowitz discusses two workflows: analogue to digital and fully digital. For the last two years, Dan Dubowitz and Alan Ward were artists in residence at Manchester Central Library, working on the project Citizen Manchester. Dan's work was shot on large format film then digitised. Meanwhile his current project, The New Museum, is being shot digitally. For this talk Dan compares the approaches and outlines the advantages of each one.
During the lunch break there will the option for a group to have a tour of the work installed in the Library with Dan and look more closely at the prints produced.
