Redeye is delighted to welcome London-based photographer Alina Kisina for our next Network Meeting in Manchester.
Alina Kisina is an Ukrainian photographer who regularly returns to her native land to take pictures that bring out the spirituality of its mundane objects and scenes. Her evocative pictures use a mixture of abstraction and representation to create an enigmatic depth and height suggesting a reality beyond that of the things actually shown.
Kisina’s recent City of Home solo show was exhibited at Street Level Photoworks in Glasgow in 2011 and work from this series was part of the Format 2011 international photography festival in Derby.
This year Kisina is continuing her work on the City of Home series under a new commission for Light House Media Centre in the UK, alongside exhibitions at festivals hosted in Singapore, Syria and Ukraine. In 2010 her work from the Zerkalo|Mirror exhibition was featured in Thinking in Unity after Postmodernism – an international conference on innovative approaches to aesthetics, literature and film at the University of Munich.
Redeye’s Network meetings are a great chance to meet, discuss and be inspired by other photographers and the exciting possibilities within photography. Join us for a glass of wine or juice prior to the talk (18:30) and then to a local pub afterwards to carry on the conversations.
Price: £3.50, or FREE for Redeye members. To register for a member ticket, please log in first with your username and password, then that option will appear next to the event prices after you follow the link below.
Doors open at 18:30 for refreshments and networking with the talk starting at 19:00.
