Redeye is delighted to welcome Elizabeth Wewiora and Grace Sutcliffe for our next Network Meeting in Manchester.

Elizabeth Wewiora is a Manchester based artist, working predominantly in photography and video work. She graduated with a BA (hons) in Fine Art Photography from the Glasgow School of Art in 2008.  She is preoccupied with the very visceral and changeable nature of the everyday environment and is often intrigued by the individual habits of human nature and how this affects our surroundings. By using the everyday, non-precious objects and characters are reworked in an attempt to bring the void between mundane and extraordinary closer.

Elizabeth will be talking in more detail about her recent research and residency project Environmental Hubs & Allotment Diaries. The project aimed to explore environmental communities throughout the U.K - looking into hidden social infrastructures and politics within allotment sites. This project involved various UK site visits between June and December 2011, with a major artist in residency within a specific allotment site (Bradley Fold) in July and August of that same year.

[img_assist|nid=8545|title=Work by Grace Sutcliffe|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=220|height=129]Grace Sutcliffe’s practice combines both photography and textiles to create hanging pieces that explore themes of narrative, memory and the domestic. Coming from a textiles background Grace associates memory with cloth and it has been a natural progression for her to combine photography with it and to use it to develop her ideas around the home and the everyday.

Redeye's Network meetings are a great chance to meet, discuss and be inspired by other photographers and those working with photography, and the exciting possibilities within photographic practice. Join us for a glass of wine or juice prior to the talk (18:30) and then to a local pub afterwards to carry on the conversations.

Price: £3.50, or FREE for Redeye members. To register for a member ticket, please log in first with your username and password, then that option will appear next to the event prices after you follow the link below.

Doors open at 18:30 for refreshments and networking with the talk starting at 19:00.
