Many people have asked us if there are more affordable alternatives to the "industry standard" imaging and page layout software, Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, since Adobe moved to a subscription model.
Affinity Photo launched in 2015 and Affinity Publisher in 2019, and they have rapidly increased their feature set to the point that they will satisfy the needs of many professional users. They are developed by the software developer Serif in Nottingham, England, and are priced at a fraction of their Adobe counterparts.
This event is in two sections:
The Affinity Photo section will focus on a non-destructive workflow that incorporates developing from RAW, basic retouching and tonal work, creative effects, finishing touches, soft proofing for print and sharpening for digital output.
The Affinity Publisher section will look at seamlessly including your Affinity Photo projects into a layout for presentation, and we will explore various techniques for creatively laying out your images and adding flourishes, taking advantage of StudioLink (switching into Photo/Designer functionality within Publisher).
And as a special bonus, we will have a prize draw during the event for a small number of attendees to receive the software free of charge. Meanwhile there is a free trial of the software available at https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/90-day-affinity-trial/ if you want to have a play.
