Sean Raggett joins us for a talk on his recent work documenting a Polaroid factory in the Netherlands that was closed after bankruptcy of the company in 2001. Thanks to the dedication of some passionate investors, the factory reopened in 2008 and Sean was able to gain access to photograph the company and the Polaroid process.
Sean's talk coincides with Robert Heinecken: Lessons in Posing Subjects, an exhibition currently on display at the Open Eye Gallery that provides a rare glance at the polaroids taken by Heinecken between 1976 and 1982.
The event starts at 19.00 with a chance to catch up and network with Redeye staff and the other attendees. Sean's talk starts at 19.30 and will be followed by a Q&A session and drinks from 20.30.
Sean Raggett B.A., B.F.A. (Hons) is an award-winning, London-based visual artist whose practice investigates modern sociological narratives, such as the complexities of group interaction and cultural dissonance, using large-scale colour photographs made primarily with a 5x4” large-format film camera. These visual constructions are mediated by academic intent, and aim to reflect the timeless qualities that exist in a singular frame or subject, as well as the 'presence of absence’.
The event is free to attend but numbers are limited so please register below. By choosing an 'optional donation' ticket you help to support Redeye and the wider photographic community. We really appreciate your donation.
